I don't think Davis had many options. I read that the Cards had some interest but it would also mean having to make another move or two. Overall Davis did well considering his negotiating position.

More like the recent Ryan Howard at that price tag.
And other than not liking keeping Davis, especially at the Price, I don't think people realize how good Chen was and losing him is a big blow to the O's IMO...
