Greer, did you just pickup that Ripken? I saw it on eBay, went for around $120. There's been a few nice Ripkens up recently, I didn't get any though. I saw the Star Rubies /50 (~$225) and the /25 Super Rave (~$200).

Sorry for delay. No, I got the Ripken Starquest Gold on COMC awhile back. I am looking for buy offers if anyone is interested.

Proto's would be ones with card#'s 131 and above............

Unreleased Cards

It appears that a number of additional Crusade cards were produced by Donruss for future 1998 baseball card sets, but were never released due to the bankruptcy of Pinnacle Brands. Many of these cards were "base" Crusade cards of players who appeared in the "Call to Arms" subset, and vice versa.
Unlike the cards that were inserted into packs, all cards from the "Call to Arms" subset are sequentially-numbered. None of the cards, however, are serial-numbered. We believe that one copy of the red and purple and two copies of the green of each player were produced.
Green, Purple and Red cards are known to exist for some players

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

A number of "Sample" cards are also known to exist. These cards are serial-numbered either "***/250" (green), "***/100" (purple), or "XX/25" (red). It is believed that these cards were produced for Donruss' staff and were used in-house for final approval before production. We believe that 1 to 3 copies of each player for each color were produced.

Thanks papa!

I've been wanting to do the Marlins team set. Luckily for myself and my wallet, I prefer the color green to purple and red. Lol.

These use the same technology as 97 Limited Exposure and 98 Prized Collections, right? I've never seen one in person

Back in 2013 someone sent me a pic of the purple and red because i had asked to see them. he said he was working on the proto full set, but asked me to keep it quiet and not share the pics. i wonder if i just bought them from that same guy...

Seller has gone by px23 as well originally. Amazing collection they have from what I've seen and heard. I recently sold him something, so I know he still is assembling items as well as selling.

Sometimes the cards that are numbered ***/250, ***/100, & XX/25 are referred to as Executive promos/samples/proofs.

Stupid question but I just picked up a sealed 98 donruss box for fun. Although highly unlikely, you can get a crusade insert out of them correct?
1998 Donruss Crusade is a 130-card, cross-brand, insert. The first 40 cards (Denoted below with a "D") were randomly inserted into packs of 1998 Donruss Series One as a "stealth" insert, the next 30 into 1998 Leaf ("L"), and the next 30 into 1998 Donruss Update Series ("U"). Cards 101-130 were inserted into packs of 1998 Leaf Rookies & Stars.
