Even if it wasn't yours.

Since I don't deal in anything pricey, I don't have too many examples personally but here's a few which come to mind.

'52 topps mantle
psa 1

A couple of '01 bowman chrome Pujols

Bowman chrome orange refractor auto Bryant

Raw Topps Pancho Herrer error

But the best of the best is probably this View attachment 42302 which someone years ago asked me if I had interest in buying (yeah, just a "little" out of my price range)

That card is by far the most expensive I've ever held. My dad and I were in a shop where they had a mantle for $400 but it was in horrible shape, probably 200 creases, rounded corners, etc. My mom talked him out of buying but oh man, what if. This was back in 92-94.

Wait... you pulled this? Let me guess, started at $0.99 auction with no reserve?

Sorry, had to... I have now seen you post this card up five times since basically midnight last night. Great card, nice pull, good luck with the auction but give pounding the table around the board a little break man.

Mine was a Nolan Ryan rookie card the shop owner had in one of those 3 inch thick screwdowns. Had no idea the value or appreciation for it in 90-91 when I saw it. He was selling it for 1200 at the time. I was more amazed by the holder than the card but remember it looking damn near flawless.
Remember the shop was in a small shopping complex in Renton, Washington with a video store, craft shop like "michaels" and the grocery store at the time was johnnys. Later a QFC or something. He was on the end and always great to me when I went in
