Show Your Accidental Collections

Over the years I have put together a few "accidental collections". These collections are players that I did not set out to collect, but, from wax/breaks/other I have accumulated at least a handful of their cards. To keep this reasonable, I am only talking about autos/relics/limited cards (no base). I keep meaning to sell these off, but I always seem to forget or run out of time.

I probably have 3-4 guys that fall into this category (and a lot more if you count teams). I will use this thread to post the "collections" as I get them scanned.

Interesting, In the late 90's early 00's I Always got a-rod or jeter inserts as my "hits". Being a strict griffey guy at the time in pains me now to think about

Mo Vaughn. Always pulled the sweetest/rarest cards of Mo effing Vaughn. It actually forced me into collecting him.

OK. That is seriously impressive. How did you end up with that accidental collection?

I now have more Marisnick autos than Stanton and Trout combined.

I plan on doing the Topps Chrome rainbows as well

The only player I have pulled multiple GU or AU cards of is Derek Jeter. I am a Red Sox fan. Luckily Jeters always sell for decent prices.

My accidental collection wasn't a player collection but an oddball Fleer set from 1971. It was the colorful cartoon like World Series set. I had put a bunch of these and other oddball cards in one of my dad's old cigar boxes when I was a kid and forgot about them. I think I finished the set last year. I don't know how to show them but I'm sure everyone on here knows what they look like.

Here is another of my accidental collections. When I pulled the first HanRam I held on to it because I was sentimental about his days as a Red Sox prospect. Then, as I pulled more, I was just lazy and there was not really a strong market for him in a Marlins uniform. Anyway, here are some Hanley Ramirez cards I am holding on to for no reason.

2010 Dorin Dickerson National Treasures autographs #/99. It started from a lot that included 3 of the 99. I now have over half of the #/99 and half of the #/25.

And yes, he was just bought out of his contract with the Titans.

Combine freak, league question mark.

Here is another accidental collection for today: Christian Yelich.

I have an affinity for the Marlins so when I see them really cheap in a break I often pick them up. This is mostly a byproduct of that weakness.

Al Alburquerque since his last name is my hometown except for the extra "r".

No autos/relics to post because I can't find any of his. I suppose I may have to try to TTM him to have at least one auto for the collection since it's not apparent he will get any autos or relics unless he eventually becomes a closer.

I collect a few players who played on the Cardinals in the 2000's: JD Drew, Scott Rolen, Jim Edmonds. Naturally, anytime there was a multi-player card relating to the Cardinals in that era, the law was that Pujols had to be included. As a result, I have a ton of cards featuring one or more of my three players, along with Albert Pujols.
