The Ripken definitely exists...I purchased one in a lot once, only to have it not be included in the shipment and have the seller keep my money. He sold me out to make more money, but easily left a grand or more on the table, as I had been approached by a buyer for $1500.00. I turned it down, not only because I didn't have the card in hand, but because I wanted the card for my collection. Having had previous dealings with the seller, I never expected him to not follow through with the sale.
I'm fairly certain it's not being displayed in a collection simply because the underhanded buyer doesn't want to be outed in their dealings.
