It's that time of year again. IU Baseball starts their season tomorrow. A lot of expectations and national recognition this year. Hoosiers are ranked #3 in the country by Baseball America. It has been a brutal winter (as I'm sure a lot of you have experienced) and can't tell you how excited I am for tomorrow to get here, and with it the reminder that spring is coming soon.

Also coming up on this threads two year anniversary. Kind of hard to believe I've been doing it for this long. I've liked doing it, and hope at least a few of you have enjoyed following along.

17 New One of Ones. Not all of them are created equally, but I take them where I can get them. This pushes it to over 100 1/1s.

The Slegers is my first card of his. These autos are live (I waited to scratch it until they were). Also just the second redemption card in the collection, with a 1996 Upper Deck Mark Spitz auto being the first. Hopefully there aren't any more.

IU are the big ten champs for the second straight year. Tournament starts on Wednesday. Really hope that we win that so we can be eligible to host a national tournament game again.

After another amazing season, it was sad to see it end in heartbreaking fashion. I really dislike Stanford right now. I don't know how next year is going to turn out, will need to see some major production out of the Freshman class, which took a big hit when Josh Ockimey was drafted in the fifth round to the Red Sox. I'm not holding my breath that he will stay committed to IU, but hope that he does.

But really I'm thankful that IU was fortunate enough to have such a great coach that was not only a terrific influence to the baseball program in general, but also a strong influence on his players. Everyone that has come though the program during his tenure has been a class act. IU has not only been successful, built a world class stadium, and received national recognition, but they were FUN teams to watch. We won and we did it the right way. Everyone contributed and everyone bought into the TEAM aspect. From the sideline it seamed like they were a family. Smith was the glue and will make a great addition to any team and he will be sorely missed here. I know this will sound stupid, and most won't understand since he is a stranger to me, but I actually teared up a little when I read this today. It is an end of an era. I only hope that the next coach can be half as energetic and engaging as Smith.

10 new ones (and not Phegley or Johnson!). Some odd balls in here too. The Spitz Historic Autograph is upside down. I didn't even notice before I bid. Wish I could take that one back, but got it for a good price so oh well. In fact it isn't the first auto of his that I have that was placed upside down on the card.

Glad to see you back here and posting. The only time I like seeing those Michigan uniforms is in your thread! Schwarber has so far shown why it was worthwhile to draft him so high. I hope he can keep it up as well. As far as going strong...2014 has been a two steps forward, 148 Bowman parallels back kind of year.
