Wow, that's how bad the Padres wanted to get rid of Kemp's giant contract.

The Padres traded Kemp to the Braves for Hector Olivera, who's currently suspended under MLB's domestic violence rule.

Kemp is on pace for 36 homers and 100+ rbi, but he has been barely above replacement level at 0.2 WAR, thanks to bad defense and a poor .285 OBP.

The Olivera era in SD ended about a minute in.....they DFA'd him.

Kudos, Preller.

Another salary dump by San Diego. Hopefully, we can contend in 2019, which is the 50th anniversary of the franchise.
It must be frustrating being a Padres fan. Hopefully they're developing a good farm system so they don't have to keep this cycle of building with expensive veterans and then dumping them a couple years later.
