1979 OPC is my all-time favorite set. The Gretzky rookie, the last cards of Dryden, Howe, Hull and Mikita, the blue borders, the extreme condition sensitivity...plus 1980 is my birth year.

My goal is to collect all 28 HOFers in PSA 9. I'll settle for an SGC 8.5 Gretzky for now

If you don't mind me asking what did the Gretzky set you back. I need to get the O-Pee-Chee to go along with my topps.

I paid $2350 for mine. I got it from BMW, and Brian told me this is the nicest 8.5 Gretz he's seen in 10-15 years. I believe him. 9's run for roughly $4500 and 8's run for around $1k. You can pick up a nice 7 for $600-$625.

What grade is your Topps? I used to own both PSA 8 and 9 copies. The 9 I got super cheap - like $950 - but that was 10 years ago

Mine is an SGC 86. Got it 13 years ago for $125. I figure the same 86 O-Pee-Chee is going to run me at least 6 to 7 hundred.
