The 1982 Milwaukee Brewers are a revered team in the state even though they did not win the World Series.
Are there any others teams in other cities that never won that are put up on pedestals?

1984 Padres?
1986 Astros?

I'd imagine the what, '01 Mariners, that won 119 games have to be elevated in Seattle, at least a little bit.

The 40s/50s Brooklyn Dodgers were perennial WS losers (41, 47, 49, 52, 53 and 56) until they finally broke that trend in 1955. Not to mention that heartbreaking 51 season with the "Shot Heard 'round the World" that knocked them out of WS contention. That stretch may have been some of the greatest teams assembled not to win it all. With the exception of 1944 (7th place), the Brooklyn Dodgers teams of 1940-1957 never finished worse than 3rd, and were either 1st or 2nd in the NL 13 times. This followed a very rough run that began at the turn of the century, where although they made it to and lost the WS (1916 and 1920), they finished 3rd or better only 6 times between 1903-1939!

And yes, the 2001 Mariners were a huge shock and disappointment to Seattle, but are still considered one of the best teams along with the 95 team. I also have a connection to the 84 padres team too.

When it comes to the best teams, you have to put the 90's Indians at or near the tops of the list. Its embarrassing that John Hart could not get enough pitching together at any point to get this team where it needed to be.

Take the 1996 team, for example.

Sandy Alomar, C: 11 HR, 75 OPS+
Julio Franco, 1B: 14 HR, 123 OPS+. .407 OBP
Carlos Baerga, 2B: 10 HR, 76 OPS+. Not his best year.
Omar!, SS: .362 OBP, 35 stolen bases. 98 OPS+
Jim Thome, 3B: 38 HR, 123 walks to 141 K's. .450 OBP for a 167 OPS+
Albert Belle, LF: 48 HR, 148 RBI. .410 OBP and a 158 OPS+
Kenny Lofton, CF: .372 OBP with 75 steals. 14 HR for a 107 OPS+
Manny Ramirez, RF: 33 HR, .399 OBP. 146 OPS+
Eddie Murray, DH: 12 HR. Nice veteran.

And you had Jeromy Burnitz, Brian Giles, Jeff Kent all getting at least 100 at bats.

But the pitching was not so good. Charles Nagy was never a #1 , and while he earned 17 wins...the offence helped. Orel Hershier won 15, Jack McDowell won 13 and Chad Ogea 10. But those, again, were all with the help of a dominant offense.

Pen was pretty great. Jose Mesa saved 39 games. Eric Plunk, Paul Shuey, Paul Assenmacher all had nice seasons.

Those Indians teams were scary. Mix the braves pitching and Indians offense and you had the most dominant team of the 90's. Orel hershiser pitched huge games all the time it seemed

I'm not talking about a cities best team. Like in the case of Milwaukee, the few times the Brewers are any good the 1982 Brewers are brought up. Occasionally there are 82 Brewers reunion signings. For a team that never won the World Series.

Are there 2001 or 1995 Mariners reunion weekends?

I think that just means the brewers suck
