Does anyone here know how rare this one is? From what I gathered searching the internet is that it might have a print run of around 25 or so along with a handful of others in the set. Any additional information would be great before I decide what to do with it.

No, I believe you have a Gold SP. There were a few of those in that release and I specifically remember Rob Johnson being listed. They were going for at least $25-30 at the time if I remember the prices correctly. I discovered the SPs when I was busting a couple cases and saw the sales on eBay. Never pulled one unfortunately though.

I would have to search for the SP list but if it is one of them don't be surprised if you get $40-$60 for it.

Edit:A quick search produced these numbers as SP's.

I believe one of those card numbers is Ethier. I saw one go for a good chunk last month, I had to pass on it.

Edit: Here is the auction.... [ebay:193op3ij]400268907715[/ebay:193op3ij]

Is it a SP because the gold version was a tough pull or a SP because it's the gold version of a card with a different image than the base card?

I believe like the Jerry Hairston Heritage chrome card #'d/1959, only 25 or less copies got out the door into packs. Therefore set collectors are paying premium prices for them to complete their sets.

Thanks everyone for the input. That's what I thought but wanted to make sure.

I'd set a fairly high BIN for a week and see what happens. Set collectors will want this card and may pay a premium for it moreso as a BIN than as an auction. And if it doesn't sell as a BIN, you could run it at $0.99 the next week.

Because the gold version was a tough pull. Very limited print run for sure.

Ok, I don't mind topps gimmicks... I kind of like them.

But to SP a number that is /2010 is just dumb and kinda crazy.

I pulled one from a case (Neil Walker I think) and sold it for $70+ (then picked up another in a lot and sold that one for $50).

I think the others were damaged on the sheets and couldn't be released. Or something like that. Not SPs on purpose

This is the type of issue where sportlots can provide some data - the regular gold cards have a total current inventory + sold cards count of 10 or more.

For the cards above - the total current inventory + Sales are:

0 - 31,96,248,251,254,259,260,261 and 262
1 sold - 253, 258

The 28 card has 3 sold (none in current inventory) - these seem high if the real print run is 25 or so.

I would add the following cards as potential SSPs -
29 - Livan Hernanadez - 1 sold, none in inventory
117 - Martin Prado - 0 sold, none in inventory
263 - Randy Winn - 1 sold, none in inventory

Do we know if the released copies were limited to a particular packaging?
