Did they have sharpies before 1975?

I guess it could be real. ive never seen a Fox sharpie auto but the things you all point out lean more towards real. Ive seen hundreds of his autos and have never seen a sharpie auto, but hey its possible. Thanks

I am not an expert on Fox or autos in general, but it looks fake to me. It appears to have been signed really slowly, leading to wavy lines and marker bleeding at spots (especially the end of the N and the L).
The seller seems to guarantee authenticity however, so my meaningless opinion could be wrong.

I wish that wiki page was around when I went to buy a nirvana band signed poster. It was going to be a huge purchase ( close to 3000 dollars) my dad won money at a casino and me and my bro got to pick anything we want. I settled on a ps3 eventually and we remodeled the front half of our house. For some reason I convinced myself sharpie was not popular in the 90s.

Odd you would have convinced yourself that. Even back in 1988, I was using Sharpies when trying to get autographs at Fenway, and most in-store signings I'd go to would have them. Having said that, there are a lot of forged Nirvana posters out there, so you may have dodged a bullet without realizing it.

If Clemente can sign with a Sharpie, then Fox can too
but I would never pay good $$ for a sig using a Sharpie.... just plain ugly IMO

with that said, that card looks like a 12 year old did it... way too slow (like pointed out above)

Absolutely a ton of fake nirvana stuff. A lot of times I see something signed by krist and Dave with Kurt added by someone else other than Kurt. I studied autos of all 3 for 2 years and decided it was time to buy one. Still on the hunt though.

As for the card in question, I wouldn't touch that even if it were to somehow come with a PSA/DNA or JSA cert.

Just wondering because I ran across this. Not only does the auto look nothing like the real thing, but it is signed in a sharpie and he died in 1975. Just wanted to know if sharpies existed then, or is it some other type of pen that makes the auto look nothing like it usually does?

Haha...I used those pens all the time in the 70s and 80s. Loved them. And Trapper Keepers, too. ;)

Sharpies were huge back then!!!! Like Sean C. says, i also started getting ALL my In Person NHL autographs with Sharpies back around 1987/88.

Most AUTHENTIC Kurt Cobain autographs are in Sharpies actually. It might be a good thing u didn't get the Nirvana poster though, TONS and TONS of fakes and the thing with Kurt Cobains autograph is it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to authenticate.

if u are ever in the market for a Cobain online, u can send me a PM and ask for my opinion if u want. I consider myself pretty knowledgable on Cobain autos as well, although like i mentioned 90 % of the time its a crap shoot on his autos, but there a few things that "help" with his auto.

I was watching that card as well. I need it for my set but I would Not touch it. The "n" is way off it never curves that much at the end. A somewhat nice one ended not to long ago for $326.
I would pass if I were you.
