Very sad news from the baseball world

This is indeed a sad day for baseball as this man was a gentleman in every way. I had a chance meet and talk with him whenever he came into Chicago and, while I am not going to say we were friends he would go out of his way to say hello to me. I even inquired aboutgoing to his umpire school but regretably decided against it.

He was a great man that didnt get much recognition and should be in the hall of fame just as Doug Harvey is!

I am actually pretty surprised he isn't in the Hall of Fame yet. Both he and Ron Santo deserved to be inducted while they were still with us. What an insult to Santo to not elect him until the year after he passed away. I would feel the same way about "Chief" (as Harry Wendlestedt was known).
