Yeah, that doesn't make too much sense.
Just poor business imo.

It is Topps.
At the national last year, people asked Topps why this happens, and why they don't hold the players to the contracts they signed. All they did was double-talk, and never answered why they don't make them fulfill their obligations.

Its one of those instances where you have to wonder why they don't have him sign the older ones while he's there signing the new ones. "Can you please sign these ones you were supposed to sign before you sign these other ones?"

"make them fulfill their obligations".

Really? You can't sue for fulfillment of a service; you can sue for damages. So what can Topps do other than get their money back? If a player isn't going to sign but then agrees to sign another product, are you going to say no in holding a grudge or get the player in your product?

Topps is at the player's whim. The players certainly don't need the money.

Jeff; I have a serious question about this.

What can be done in situations where the redemption is packed our prior to a company coming to an agreement with the player/personality. It is known that several redemptions were packed out in 2011 A&G prior to Topps contacting the person or having a signed contract. At least one of these personalities/athletes have refused Topps' contract offering.

Who said anything about suing...what are you a lawyer?

Seriously though...might not be able to sue for it, but maybe this is an example needed to not have expired redemptions NOT be fullfilled with this kind of proof. If they can get a Butler auto on a 2012 product, but someone ends up pulling an expired Butler card from a prior product that was never produced/sent out that would kind of piss me off.
