The Blue Jays have signed Vladimir Guerrero to a minor league deal, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports (Twitter links). Guerrero would earn a pro-rated portion of $1.3MM in the Major Leagues if the Blue Jays call him up after he spends some time at extended Spring Training. Proformance represents the 37-year-old designated hitter.

Guerrero has 2,590 hits, 449 homers and a .318/.379/.553 line in 16 big league seasons. In 590 plate appearances with the Orioles last year, the nine-time All-Star posted a .290/.317/.416 line with 13 homers.

It would be cool if he starts and ends his career in Canada. That's not to say I want him to retire this year. He's fun to watch. The angels were kick ass when he was on the team....oh how things have changed.

So close to 3,000 hits and 500 HRs but he is too far away and more than likely won't reach either of them...

If he is in shape and ready to go he could be up in TO by the end of the month. Definitely puts a little heat on Lind to get off his duff.
