I hope the Astros enjoy the next Luke Hochevar. Horrible pick, I would have went with Gauseman at the very least, he can throw a changeup.

This is why it is hard at times to root for Houston teams. Between the Astros, Texans, and Rockets, they never make the "sexy" picks. I wanted the Stros to wow me for a change with Buxton or Correa, but no a college pitcher who I will never collect. The Texans bore me with defensive picks and receivers I could care less about (they will regress this year with lost starters and not addressing the offense enough). The Rockets are stuck in mediocrity at the end of the lottery with no talent to choose from (also because NBA drafts seem to stink badly after the top 10 picks).

Awesome! That means Topps won't hold Buxton out of 2012 Draft. I'm not a huge Appel fan anyway, so let him be the cover boy of 2013 Bowman.

Agreed, in 2004, the morning of the draft the Padres changed gears and took Matt Bush. NOTHING is ever set in stone on these things.

Buxton is a different animal and that decision could certainly be made, but what's the major benefit of Appel over Gausman or even Zimmer? I say not much; it's hairs I don't envy the Astros splitting.
