This article was featured on "Hot Clicks" on CNN SI a few days back. If you don't read "Hot Clicks" its a great read, just be carefull not to click on some of the links at work.
Anyway check out the gallery of "I am going to retire on these cards someday" cards from the 80s and 90s. I remember thinking that as a kid as many of you probably did as well.
What card did you spend the most money on as a kid or young collector to see that investment tank?
At the heart of the Home Run chase in 1998, I was 17 high school student working a full time job at Pizza Hut, was making $4.50 an hour and saved up for a 1985 Mark McGwire Topps RC paid a wopping $200 for it and still have it in a 1-inch lucite holder with felt protective cover.
Recently a 1985 McGwire sold for $1 on ebay. WOW that sucks!
