Not even close. Big Mac didn't hit many doubles. In 2001, he had 29 HRs and just 4 doubles. Only one other time in history (Wes Covington, with 21 in 1957) did a player hit more than 16 HRs in a season with 4 or fewer doubles.

Didn't he have a season where he had more RBI's than hits too?

Actually, he had FOUR of them. Here are the players with more than 30 RBIs that had more RBIs than hits:

1 Mark McGwire 147 145 1999 STL 153

3 Mark McGwire 90 87 1995 OAK 104
4 Paul Sorrento 79 76 1995 CLE 104
5 Mark McGwire 73 72 2000 STL 89
6 Mark McGwire 64 56 2001 STL 97

There can't be too many lists that start with McGwire and have a pitcher 2nd.
