These are the guys that come to mind as needing to, or seriously should consider retiring

1) Ken Shamrock - no brainer. Ken is not the Worlds Most Dangerous Man anymore, but might hold the title of the Worlds Most Pathetic Man Still In a Cage!

2) Tito Ortiz - After hearing how Affliction might not be interested in his services, where does this leave the once prized light heavyweight champion? DREAM and NOAH will not work, EliteXC is too deep in debt, and WEC is owned by Zuffa, so it wont work there. He is still young, but, where does this leave him to compete, other than Japan, and by doing this, he will lose credibility within the US

3) Chuck Liddell- After the KO by Evans, and having lost 3 of his last 4 fights, what is left for Chuck? He has not adapted his style to meet the new generation of fighting , and will remain one dimensional more than likely. Even if he does adapt, will it work?

4) Matt Hughes- After the loss to Thaigo Alves, many started asking this question, is it time for Matt Hughes to hang em up? He has a stellar record, and is considered the greatest champion in UFC history, but, he seems to be losing his edge, and, his age is becoming a factor.

5) Randy Couture- Many are questioning how the 45 year old will fare in his bout with Brock Lesnar in November, and if he loses, his shot at the HW championship are probably over for at least 2 years. Randy cannot afford to lose, but if he does, will he decide (once his contract expires) to retire?

Opinions?

Tito is still young and i'm sure he can catch on in another organization. Shamrock should retired, but I give him some credit for hanging in there, he is a true pioneer. Hughes should retire, his lose to Alves was a huge blow, but the only other fighters to beat him in recent memory are GSP and Penn.
