I figured this should/should spark some good baseball discussion. Who are the top 10 players in the game for 2009? (And before this gets started, I know everyone has different definitions of the word "best" so just throw them out there and someone will come and argue with you :)) Feel free to include both pitchers and hitters in the list, or pick one (or make lists for both.)

Can't think of 10 off the top of my head (and no time to explain my opinions right now) but here's some of the guys I'd in my top 10 (not in a specific order.) My list looks at projection for 2009, as well as what I anticipate the players career's will look like when it's all said and done.

Albert Pujols
Alex Rodriguez
Hanley Ramirez
Grady Sizemore
David Wright
Jose Reyes
Chase Utley

David Wright(first 40 hr year)
Mike Pelfrey(surprises everyone and wins the most games in the mlb)
Miguel Cabrera(hits 50 bombs)
Hanley Ramirez(40/40)

In no particular order really

Albert Pujols
Alex Rodriguez
Hanley Ramirez
David Wright
Chase Utley
Miguel Cabrera
Roy Halladay
Tim Lincy
Jake Peavy

and one of these guys for the last spot. Braun is probably the safest pick, but I can see one of the others having a great 09 season. Better than Braun.

Braun
Verlander
Hamels
Hamilton
Kinsler
Quentin

That is very true.
In no way is Carlos Beltran or Howie Kendrick a top 10 player in the league.

Agreed. I think he will have a better year because he will feel he has something to prove, but that's just me.

Kendrick will win the batting title and no list is complete without Beltran.
