His Eventual full time DH status might get him enough time to get there. He reminds me of Eddie Murray but with lower BA and more strikeouts

People need to realize that just because a guy reaches a milestone in one category (500hr, 3000 hits, etc) but doesnt produce in any other category except said one, that does not make them a HOFer.

It means they stuck around long enough to accumulate that certain statistic while being marginal everywhere else

I do not care if a player has a .180 liftime Avg and a full time DH and sucks in the field. Reggie Jackson holds the most strikeout record [2597],sucked in the field has 563 HR's and a .262 batting avg.soooo a guy that hits 600 HR's and in no way tied to P.E.D.'s that does not make the HOF.What the hell is wrong with ya'll. NUMBSKULLS!
Buy the way Dunn will be lucky to get to 500 HR's much less 600.
P.S. The WIZ sucked at the plate and is a HOFer. 28 HR's and a .328 SLG. that truly sucks!

This is why milestone numbers should mean nothing when it comes to HOF voting. It's about the entire package unless the player is far and above better than everyone else in specific categories at their position. In Dunn's case, he has never even led the league in HR's or RBI (yes, he is leading in HR's this year). Even with the HR's, he's never had more than 106 RBI in a season. Dunn has never even finished in the Top 20 in MVP voting. Regardless of how many HR's he finishes with, Dunn should never be a HOFer.

You guys are forgetting that he walks a lot and if it wasn't for his horrid year last year, his career OPS would be around .900. So he's 10x the hitter Dave Kingman was, as Kingman was lucky to have an OBP of .300. Adam Dunn's OBP is anywhere from .350 to .400. If he can get that back up a bit and has 600 HR, he'll make the HOF. Juan Pierre will make the HOF if he gets 3,000 hits. Jamie Moyer will get in the HOF if he has 300 wins.

Just the way it is.

LOL what an asinine statement

While I agree with you on the first part, what makes you think Dunn can't get to 500? He's only 33 and only needs 104 HR to go. he could reach that in 3 years.

This is what people said about Andruw Jones a few years ago!

But of course the HOF is not only about stats, perhaps there are other ways Dunn can distinguish himself in the eyes of voters.

Yeah but Andruw doesn't play every day. I don't see Adam Dunn becoming a role player any time soon. He's going to play every day.

If he is not blackballed like Kingman and Canseco was he should make it. Dunn wont be 33 untill November, so he is still 32 for the rest of this season. I would love to see him make it to 500-600. One of the nicer players in the game.
