Card show in Melbourne Florida...

Well Rockledge actually and it's over a month away, but there are never shows around here (within a 2 hour drive) & I can't wait! So, I hope EVERYONE who lives within the area will come out to support the dealers & promoter who just happens to be a member here. To all of you who are lucky enough to go to shows just about every weekend, I hope you enjoy your shows this weekend. I have a month to save money for my 1st show in a long time!

They have a monthly one in Lakeland,and Tampa.

I went to the Tampa one a few weeks back.Pretty small,but there are some alright deals..Also met a dealer that wouldnt sell anything,because he was afraid the value would rise,lol.

Basically-If your in the area,check it out..But dont go to far out of your way for it.

Yea, the same group runs a monthly show in Brandon. I went with my son last week and for a while we were the only 2 people there.....really sad

Thats the Tampa one,its basically Brandon.I wish the show could get larger.Even with the small group its a decent show,but some of the dealers prices are high,and noone had litterally no Griffey.I got a few from the huge $1 box dealer,and another dealer kept trying to push a $7 Bonds/Griffey/Gonzalez spx on me for $30..Kind of annoying,I look younger than I really am and dont get taken to 'seriously',I guess is a way to put it.

Last week was bad compared to how it usually is. The show is normally in a room on the other side of the hotel. I guess the hotel decided to move them to the other side. I went to the room and it was empty so I decided to call Bob and make sure they were still in business lol

My show days were in & around Melbourne back in the mid-80's, it used to be a pretty good scene there. I was going to FIT at the time. Does Doug's shop still exists down in Palm Bay?

Don't think so...
I only know of 2 shops between Palm Bay and Titusville... (40 miles between the 2)

That's why I want to open one..Right in the middle of the 2, either in Rockledge or Viera/Suntree

I grew up in Rockledge and used to hang out at Bases Loaded all the time back in the day. Good times.

Ive been here since 2005, where was that shop located?

If its the same shop I'm thinking of, It was on Barton near Fiske Blvd...

If thats what you are referring to, I want to open a shop across the street from where a shop used to be...

Correct. It was in a small strip mall where, if you are familiar with Rockledge, now houses Bianco's Big League Eatery. I don't live down there anymore, but if you open a shop I'll check it out. Baseball is getting pretty big in Rockledge as the High School has won a state title and the local Little League Junior's team just won the LLWS. If you get tied in with the local baseball scene, hopefully a shop could succeed.

Yep.. Bianco's is a good restaurant!...
Thats why I'm starting up the show, I wanted to open a shop first and then promote it by running the card show, Free exposure for a new store....
but since the store is on hold for the time being, I thought to start the show in Rockledge first...

If it's a hit, then the store will soon follow!!!

Good luck on opening a shop. I'd recommend trying to run a few shows in town to build demand and see what sort of customer base you might have. It's tough to make it these days, especially in a small town. You will probably need to make your store a major destination for everyone in central Florida who collects. Your inventory of new singles should help with that. I'd also check to see if you can be a gaming destination in town. As you know, the profit margins on that wax is much better then sports products.

This is true but will still be doing a lot of selling singles from my website also, doing group breaks for dealers, etc, but having a store would just make it easier to work instead of one room in my house,
I need more room for more inventory, and if I get another place, it might as well be a storefront, because down here, rent is almost the same as getting an industrial storage like place, I can get a place for around $800 a month for 1100 sq ft. And I think people would rather go to a storefront on a main road rather than a place like an industrial spot a back road...
It will happen, just need a few things to happen first..

Glad to see so much talk about this. Paul, I can't wait didn't mean to steal your thunder.

Was that show in the casino in Hollywood? I went and if that is the show you are pretty accurate.....it sucked. I did make myself buy a $10.00 to say it was worth going 2 1/2 hours drive each way....grrr and it sounded like it was going to be a good show, oh well.
