I see a lot of clearly fake Dave Winfield autographs when I'm searching for new potential additions to my collection. However, this one caught my eye and seems to have been neatly worded so as NOT to say it was signed by Dave Winfield, just that it is a Dave Winfield card that has been hand-signed.

This one, however, is not as careful in its wording, and enters the realm of fraud, as the only realistic looking Winfield signature here is the blue one that is a printed facsimile, and clearly not the carefully drawn personal inscription:

Then there is this one. Very obviously NOT hand-signed, in-person by Dave Winfield, but while the description avoids directly saying it is, the title makes the implication a bit too directly:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1991-OPC-Pr...Autographed_Trading_Cards&hash=item416c09cc7f

This one completely neglects to obscure the nature of the card and goes for an outright lie, flatly saying the card was signed by Winfield, when it is clearly a horribly drawn copy of his name, most likely by someone under the age of 15:

While I would very much like to add some new Winfield autographed cards to my collection, these are not them.

I'm not all that big, but I am a fan.

Send me a pm with your address. I have a signed rookie that I can't get Psa to slab because the auto is pretty faded. Its your if you want it the next time I find the box it is in.

I don't have any to sell but was wondering if I could ask your opinion on this card. I got it when I was doing TTM about 5-6 years ago. I sent him an index card and this was sent back. It looks a lot like the last card you posted and now has me wondering. Thanks in advance.

That actually looks good. The W is consistent with how he's been signing in the last 10 years, and no big loops on the F. The last one I posted was just way too round and loopy. Winfield's autos always have pretty sharp points on the F, L and D in his last name and he gave up signing his full first name ages ago.
