The 1988 American League rookie class was the most boring that I can remember.
Weiss won Rookie of the Year for his fielding.
He hit .250 with 3 home runs and 4 steals.
The rest of the A.L. candidates were Bryan Harvey, Jody Reed, Don August, Dave Gallagher, Melido Perez, Mike Schooler and Cecil Espy.

What made '88's A.L. class even worse, was that it followed the awesome '86 and '87 rookie classes.

Weiss was the A's third straight ROY, following Canseco and McGwire.
(the Dodgers had an incredible five straight from '92-'96 - Karros, Piazza, Mondesi, Nomo, Hollandsworth)

I loved those A's teams growing up. Weiss could definitely field it. I think of the '88 Fleet prospect card with ...Ontevarios (or something)? If my memory is still good. Also loved what I think was his '89 Score card that showed him leaping over a runner trying to break up the double play
