Ever since buying 1 2007 bowman HTA pack and pulling a Brandon Morrow 1/1 Plate, I had never pulled such a good card from one pack, until last Christmas. I got a 2011 bowman draft rack pack and pulled this one:

I wish I could claim it was me, but it wasn't. But it was a case I paid for my own money. It was just my wife that opened the pack;)

2012 Topps Archives. She opened the pack and saw the Bryce Harper auto redemption and showed me. I jumped out of my chair to take it to my office to scan and list. As I was screaming "yeeeee-hawwww" and running out of the room she said "WAIT! CARL, COME BACK!"

I walked back into the room, slightly irritated. "What!?"

"What is this?"

She showed me an on-card autograph of Hank Aaron #'d/25. I gave her a big fat wet kiss. She's been opening packs with me ever since.

Hank Aaron and Bryce Harper autos in the same pack. Not sure I will ever top it.

I traded a card for a pack of 1998 Elite and pulled a Back to the Future dual auto of Nolan Ryan and Greg Maddux. Best hit ever, one pack or one case. I was 14 and I still have it in my collection at 29.

In 1996 and 97 I helped a friend of mine at his shop in my spare time. Instead of him paying me, I'd be paid in store merchandise. He had a fresh box of 79-80 OPC hockey. I let me credit build up for a couple months. At that time he charged me $50 a pack for this. I figured with 396 cards in the set and I believe you get 15 cards in a pack, there had to be one and possibly two in the box. I also figured a pack at a time, lets go for it. Well in my THIRD pack, $150 in, I HIT IT! I was jumping up and down, as were the guys in the shop. I sent it in for grading and I got a 7.5 from Beckett. For OPC that year, that is great with the rough cuts and centering. I still have the card.

2012 Topps Update Mike Trout AS Jersey ($30, I was told)

2008-2009 Panini Prestige Prestigous Picks Tyler Hansbrough autograph/50 (when he was still relevant) $60 BV at the time. No clue on the SV)

2011 Bowman Draft Topps 60th Anniversary Matt Kemp auto/60 ($150 SV at the time)

1997-1998 Skybox Metal Dennis Rodman Hardware (Jumped to over $100 after HOF induction)

The best part? I still have them all. I love being a collector.

I used to collect all sports when I was younger--baseball, football, basketball AND hockey. In middle school in the mid-1990s I had a friend who was visiting a local LCS (Valley Sports Cards in Los Angeles) and asked him to pick me up some packs of 1986-87 Topps hockey, which at the time were like $20 a pack. I really really wanted a Patrick Roy rookie card. He picked me up two packs and brought them to school the next day.

Opened up the first pack and, AMAZINGLY, I pulled a Patrick Roy RC. I was so happy you wouldn't believe it, I almost didn't card what was in the second pack. Then I opened the second pack, and thanks to some terrific collation by Topps, it was an exact replica of the first pack. So I pulled two Roy RC's. I've since stopped collecting hockey, but still have both of those cards :)

Thats awesome! I tried to buy that card last year but didn't have enough funds and haven't had a chance at one since. Congrats!

1996, the first year of the Mantle Finest reprints. I pulled a '52 Refractor. Was offered $250 for it at the shop. Should have sold it then. Ended up selling it later for about half that.

2000 Topps Golden Anniversary Cal Ripken Jr Auto. Booked at $200-$250 then. Traded it for a few boxes of something.

1995 bought a pack of Skybox football. Didn't get anything and set it on the counter of local card shop and looked around. On my way to leave, I noticed the Skybox display had a red window to check the game cards from the packs. Pulled it out and checked...Instant Winner of the Grand Prize!!
I won an autographed Pro Helmet, Pro Ball, and card of the six spokesmen of Skybox: Brett Favre (Packers), Daryl Johnston (Cowboys), Eric Turner (Browns), Dave Meggett (Giants), William Floyd (Niners) and Trent Dilfer (Buccaneers). Sold it all except for the Favre card, which, sadly, does not have any special markings on it (The other 5 cards had faint Skybox Embossing). It is hand numbered out of 10, though!
