Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Tigers have re-signed RHP Anibal Sanchez to a five-year, $80 million contract.
Nightengale reported Thursday that the Cubs had inked Sanchez to a five-year, $75 million deal, but the two teams ended up going back and forth in a bidding war, and the Tigers ultimately came out on top. It's quite a payday for Sanchez, who just a few years ago looked like he'd never be able to stay healthy. The right-hander owns a 3.75 ERA over seven seasons in the majors.
