2013 Top 150 Major League Baseball Prospect Rankings

Every year at this time I like to rank my overall top prospects on one list. My two criteria are both past performance and future potential to a prospect’s parent team. I did not attend any minor league games this past year, nor do I claim to have any professional scouting experience. This list is the culmination of my own research of statistics and online scouting reports.

A new feature I have added this year is where each prospect ranked on last year’s Top 150 list, in parenthesis. “NR” means Not Ranked.

Hunter Morris: Are you just not sold? He keeps popping up more-and-more in prospect discussions surrounding Milwaukee. I'm not saying I'm sold either, but what could all these people be thinking?

His only above average tool is his pop, at this point. Get him another one, and he's on.

Having seen Hunter Morris play in two AFL seasons, he is ready and should be on this list. Defensively ready and he will be fine with MLB pitching. Bye Bye Corey Hart.

Please note J.P. I love what you do and we talk all the time so obviously no harsh offense intended. But the one that sticks out for me is Gary Sanchez. Any comment on how he fell 27 spots with reports of improving defense, maturity, and a bat that still plays with any of the best prospect hitters out there? Just wondering.

Keep up the great work as always!

In Sanchez's case, it was more a matter of others leaping over him on the list than him falling.

What was the final deciding factor in putting Profar over Myers? Ceiling+position I'm guessing; Myers has to be the more mature player at this point.

More of a complete player overall. A true 5-tool talent with more pop than you'd expect from his frame. And obviously closer to the bigs. Better plate discipline.
