Overheard this story today at the show.
The white plains ny show has been going on for about 30 years & up until about 2004, it was promoted by gloria rothstein.
She was known for being strict & controversial towards the dealers as in table clothes to the floor, no eating at your table, etc.
One of her other rules was no shorts.
At one of her shows, reggie was an auto guest & he showed up in shorts.
She wouldn't let him start signing until he put pants on.
Reggie replied that he didn't have any on him & rothstein told him to go buy some otherwise he wouldn't get paid.
Reggie caved in & bought a pair at caldor's dept store down the road & returned to start signing.
