Be sure to list the autographs you pull and I'll add them to the original post so we have a running tally.
So far the biggest cards pulled are Hall of Famers Joe McCarthy, Red Ruffing, Joe Sewell, Bill Dickey, Enos Slaughter and Phil Niekro.

But the overall list of players makes me throw up in my mouth.
I love my Yankees history, but I've never heard of many of these players.

There's a trade off in making a set this deep. There will be collectors who will e able to pick up an auto of their guy possibly for the first time, but for most those pulls are of little interest.

Tim McIntosh played 3 games with the Yankees in 1996. He went 0-3, played a total of 6 innings on defense, and then was out of the majors (after already being out of MLB in 1994 and 1995).

Yet he has a 1/1 cut in this product.

I don't even know if there are words to describe that. Leaf catches a lot of heat around here (much of it unjustified), but there really isn't a positive way to spin something like this. There's no excuse to use cuts of living players who can keep signing for another 40+ years, and then creating a false scarcity behind it by making them a 1/1 really reeks of desperation. I know every box can't be a winner (and it looks like most of them aren't), but not even Tim McIntosh's mom would be happy to pull his 1/1 cut.

Wow! I was not expecting this kind of checklist at the price point. Very disappointing.

I hope they never make a Pride of KC set. They'd find a way to make it even worse!

Even worse (if that's possible) is Christian Parker.
He pitched in only one Major League game, allowing 7 runs in just 3 innings, for a career record of 0-1 with a 21.00 era.
And he has 2 cards in this product.

If these were all obscure dead players, this would be a great idea, if only for those who try and get autos of everyone who ever played for their team. But if you're a Yankee completist and need a Christian Parker auto, you can probably write to him and say "Hey Mr. Parker, I know you sucked in your one game with the Yankees, but I need your auto because I'm running out of good Yankees to bother. Here's $5".

I hope Sam Militello has a cut in this ....

I'm looking for a Scott Seabol 1/1 cut (had 1 AB with the 2001 team, then 59 games with the 2005 Cards). Or a Brett Jodie cut (1 start with the 2001 team, 6 ER in 2 IP, then 7 more games with the 2001 Padres then out of the game). Or best yet, a Henry Rodriguez OH HENRY! cut, commemorating his 0-8 in 5 games with the 2001 Yankees, near the end of his steroid-soaked career.

I mean, my biggest issue is the name of the set. Just call it "Lots of Yankees". Pride seems to imply something about the players that is factually inaccurate.

It's like if I made a grab bag of cookies called "Baker's Pride--Delicious Biscuits" and 2/3s of the boxes just had Milkbones.

A few comments:

1- this box has a factory cost of $31.. The slab, box and printing costs us $12 alone... What did you expect the checklist to be at this price point? There has to be many weak names to balance the big names..

2- the checklist will be posted tomorrow..nothing to be embarrassed about..

3- there area many collectors who actually collect rare and unusual names.......

This product is much like history of baseball.. It is for the completist..

If you are a diehard Yankee guy, this set offers a massive number of names who will never have autographed cards (and even a few with no cards!!!)..

Generally, the factory cost of an item will tell you a lot about the checklist.
A high $30's box will not be all deceased and hall of famers numbered to 10 or less..

I am always happy to give product feedback prior to release..feel free to ask.. BG

I think the expectation would not to include guys who played less than a season w the team as a general rule.....
Esp living guys, and put the checklist out at least a few weeks before release
