need help on a auto (what to use)

I am going to see Steve Carlton tomorrow and I am going to have him sign a hat. Now What type of pen (or marker) to use? Doese anyone have a pen they like? Is the marker a felt tip or wide? A name brand and type will really help me out.

A brand new regular sharpie will work perfectly. We tried a paint pen and some other markers and the best result we came up with is a sharpie. The paint pen on the bill of the hat was creating little splatter spots of ink because of the stitching on the bill. If you are getting it signed on the side it may work. However Sharpie works pretty well.
