There is a crispness to the October air and the leaves are changing colors so that must mean the Chicago Cubs are not playing baseball but Wrigley Field is still being used (or it used to be anyway) when this photo was taken in 1963. The Chicago Bears used Wrigley Field as their home base from 1921 to 1970 before moving downtown to Soldier Field where they remain today. The Bears would put additional bleachers running down to the field from the existing right field bleachers to add premium seating for each game. The Bears also installed a auxilary press box under the upper deck down the left field line which gave media members a seat on the 50 yard line. This box no longer exists as it was removed a number of years ago and replaced with the current sky boxes but in later years, after the Bears moved, the box was used as the Cubs "Owners" box.

I love this picture with the neighborhood being in full view and cars everywhere, for as far as the eye can see. I hope you enjoy this picture and get out and enjoy this fall day!
