Today's photo of the day is a pretty cool photo taken in Yankee Stadium in the early to mid '50's. This color photo is of the first American League Puerto Rican, Vic Power. Power was originally signed by the Yankees but they didnt feel he fit into the way players should look and act so he would eventually be signed by the Philadelphia Athletics who were more than happy to have him on their roster. This four time All Star and seven time gold glove winner went on to spend 12 years in the majors with the Athletics, Indians and Twins and made a great career for himself. Vic Power was a decent player who had a career that any major leaguer would hope for but he just doesnt get the recognition that he should.
I hope you enjoy today's photo of the day.
