Phillies SS Prospect Quinn Out Indefinitely After Achilles Injury
November 6, 2013 by Vince Lara-Cinisomo
Phillies SS Roman Quinn, ranked No. 5 on the Phillies’ 2014 Top 10 Prospects, ruptured his Achilles tendon and is out indefinitely.
Joe Jordan, the Phillies’ director of player development, told Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com that Quinn got hurt running sprints during an offseason workout near his home in Florida.
“It just popped,” Jordan told Salisbury. “He thought he stepped in a hole. It’s really a tough one.”
Quinn, 20, was the Phillies’ second-round pick in 2011, but missed significant time in 2013 after fracturing a bone in his left wrist.
Salisbury reported that Quinn has already had surgery and begun a rehab program.
The 5-10, 170-pound switch-hitter batted .238 last season in 67 games, but hit .281 in 2012 with 11 triples and 30 doubles.
