In the early mid 90s, did you ever find a big $ card in packs?

Someone posted this interesting question on bo, wanted to bring it here.

Let's keep it to 1995 ish and before.

I think it was 91/92 score hockey when I find one of those short print inserts of Bobby Orr. Was pretty excited.

Also got excited when I found a holo view of aikman and some rare fleer insert of Jerry rice.

Crazy to think I barely collected anything non baseball and still got those nice cards.

On the baseball side, I remember buying a pack of Donruss from caldor in 1995 and getting a hot pack of all bomb squad inserts g Wound up being the complete set). Also landing a gwynn die cut insert out of 95 leaf.

I pulled a Will Clark Elite from 92 Donruss - should have taking the $25 I was offered.

Also pulled a Joe Namath Heroes Auto from 91 Upper Deck football - still have it.

Pulled a Shaq All Rookie Team from Fleer Ultra and a Shaq Rookie Sensations from Fleer. I think both booked above $100 when I was in 8th grade.

I bought a box of 1993 Leaf baseball and the first pack I opened I got a Frank Thomas auto. I traded it to the shop owner for a few boxes of NBA Hoops. Complete junk. Bad trade then and now.

1995 Skybox football I pulled the Grand Prize game card: six signed helmets, six footballs, and six cards. I still have the cards, and I wish I kept the helmets.

1994 Finest Basketball pulled a Shaq refractor. Traded if for a Griffey Ud, Thomas Leaf, and a box of cards, probably Leaf of something...
One of my favorites, though, was doing a PACK WAR with SP Football , and the guy I went against pulled a Jerry Rice Holoview die-cut, at the time a $200 card. I pulled this and beat him:

When we were 10 in 1991, my cousin pulled an Emmitt Smith 1991 Wild Card 1000 stripe out of a pack at a SuperAmerica store. He ended up selling the card for $2500 and the store put up a picture of him. I now own a copy of the card.

Pulled some other goodies at the time , but the beat the odds one was (4) 1991 Donruss Legends Nolan Ryan from one box. Except for 1 I didn't capitalize like I should have (cards didn't lose value really at that point).

I pulled a score Joe DiMaggio non auto inset and a score Mantle Franchise non auto insert back in the early 90s. Sold the pair for $100 back then. I also pulled and sold a 1996 Topps Mantle Finest reprint for $20 and a Finest reprint refractor for $100hortly after release.

I pulled one as well... High dollar at the time especially for a ten year old lol. My dad wouldn't let me sell it or trade it. If I remember correctly I believe I was offered $200 at a show once.

I pulled the Alex Rodriguez autograph out of 1994 UD. Had to stop the car as I was "ripping and driving". Sold it for almost $300 when he signed the monster deal with the Rangers.

I got some of the Score cards from 1991 and 1992. Dimaggio and Musial. Can't remember what ones, still have them. Thought about going for set, but would rather buy Rickey.

I pulled a Puckett Elite from Donruss the first year they had Elite's (forgot the year) and sold it at the National for $150 bucks. That was my best pull until I pulled the Griffey/Mantle autograph from 1994 Upper Deck. I loved that card but one of the kids needed something and I sold it to a friend who has it to this day. Someday I am buying that card back from him.
