On the heels of the Atlanta thread, how are the shows near you?

Surprisingly, outside of the six White Plains shows there are very few shows in New York considering our market.

But if you are willing to drive about an hour in different directions you can generally always attend several shows a month in different states.

Concerning the shows I go to, the six White Plains shows are by far the best are largest.

I also generally go to the smaller monthly shows in Stratford Connecticut and occasionally the Garfield shows in Jersey.

How's it by you?

What shows? The last show I attended was earlier this year, a TriStar at the Cow Palace. Sucked bad for a 90s player collector. Lots of Vintage, and Lots of flats - UNSORTED! For the love of god, at least sort your boxes by sport.

Turr-ible.

The mall shows are all the same 6-10 tables over and over. And most of them are way over-priced and unwilling to deal.

The "Philly Show" at VF Casino is OK, especially for vintage and autos but not many singles...

Lexington, Kentucky has a monthly show that is the longest running one in the country. I used to set up there when I was in high school. I graduated in 1992. It seems as if its as busy as its been in years. I only buy now, and 90% of the time it's for flipping, investing purposes. I spend anywhere near 200-1000 a month. You have to be priced right to sell though. I buy high end and will dig through .25-1.00 boxes. Lots of wheeling and dealing. If people are quoting high Beckett or over eBay prices, they will leave with most of their inventory intact. Most buyers here are very educated. When new dealers show up its like piranhas searching for deals. I used to travel to Louisville, Cinci, and Columbus, but my 21 month old has changed my priorities. If your ever in Lexington the last weekend of the month, check out the show at the National Guard Armory.

In Cincinnati, we have 2 monthly shows, 1 week apart from each other. 1 show is decent and the other is hit or miss. Twice a year, Moeller High School (HS of Ken Griffey Jr, Barry Larkin and a few other MLB'ers) hosts a show with decent guest at Thanksgiving and usually the last weekend in April.

They should even cut that down , the Mills show is terrible

Ryan

I dont know if you remember or ever made it to a Christown show, but those used to be amazing.

I'd sit with a friend on a weekend when he set up and he would easily pull 2-3k.

Of course, the economy was better and all that good stuff but Mills at its best has never been like Christown at its best

The Dallas area is not real good. I'm trying a show for my synagogue (Adat Chaverim) on March 9th -- with what I'm projecting is all proceeds going to our Mens Club to help the synagogue. We have very modest goals of selling 20 tables at $25 per and $1 admission (100 people) would be great. And frankly, that's all I'm expecting, nothing more. I hope we can grow the show in the immediate and near future -- but read my column in Sports Colletors Daily and follow along for the ride.
