Yep,

it's that time again Fellas! Who's going to Cleveland? it's July 30th through August 3rd.

This is THE Show. The one that you owe it to yourself to attend if you are a fan of card collecting, especially if you've never been before.

BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!!!

I keep thinking about it. If anyone wants to split a room I snore loudly and sometimes get noxious gas if I eat the wrong things. You'd never know I'm there. LOL

I'd love to, but probably won't. Maybe next year in Chitown, since it's closer.

My bro & I have a plan to go to Iowa to visit some of my dad's family and find out more stories about him, before they all die, as well.

I'd like to go. Never been to the National so I'm sure that would be an experience.

What is the draw? Other than being surrounded by cards.

Meeting folks you've chatted with on here and the bond between a bunch of like-minded people. It's literally like being a kid again.

Not going this year but it was a blast for my first experience last year. Like Dave said, being around people that share the same hobby and meeting a bunch of people from here is a pretty good feature. There are cards and items aimed towards nearly everything you could imagine. Neat pieces of history and sometimes the only chance to hold Babe Ruth autographs and the like just as long as the table owners are nice :)

When the people who decide where it is, decide the west coast matters, I will go again.
Until then, screw the show.

And to build off of what Alex said, if you can't make it out to a place like Cooperstown, NY or Springfield, Mass or Canton, Ohio, it is nearly as good as it gets for historic items, auto's and other rarities. When you can see a PSA 10 collection of Mantle's that has you literally crapping your pants as you enter, or maybe a Pistol Pete Maravich game worn jersey from your favorite NBA team, the New Orleans Jazz, it's recommended to just spend a day there, to take in the sights of stuff you have dreamt about seeing.

I think there are shuttles to the show from some of the hotels though. However, you would be stuck at your hotel for food.

The place that Jason, Zeeck, Brett, Phil, Stefan, Elan, Ryan (Bounty13) and myself stayed at in '09 had a shuttle, wasn't too far away and had a few food places around us. No clue what it was called though, lol :(
