Let's see if the Dodgers have enough fans here to carry a thread. Show off any new Dodger pick-ups you have. Cards, photos, memorabilia, etc. Show it all off.

I'll start and although I don't add much new these days, I will certainly enjoy other's new pick-ups if the thread takes off.

This is a deceptively tough magazine to find! It is a regional cover. I do daily "Garvey" searches on ebay and have for the last 15 years. I have maybe seen this pop up a half dozen times. Go ahead and try to find one of you don't believe me!

i did a blog entry on it as well

Picked up this oddball set recently, but it was more of a "check out the other items" thing, as the main buy was something else. I had picked up the Big Apple California Set years back because Garvey was in it (As a Padre). I guess these are somewhat hard to find these days. I saw one listing on ebay, and it was a Will Clark card:

Anyway, there are a couple of Dodgers in this set. Besides the California set, I didn't see any rookie sets/singles, but did also see a mets set like this for $10

These are postcard sized with blank backs. I believe they are essentially considered a Broader type issue, but this kind of thing was common in the mid-late 80s. This may even be listed in one of the annual guides.

I also added another 1958 Bell brand card too.

I always liked that issue. Glad it didn't have any Garvey cards though. Pricey!!

I was intrigued by this latest pickup for my Don Zimmer PC. It's the middle card of a three card 1960 Topps Salesman Sample panel. Badly cut, but I've never seen one before. In fact, it is uncataloged in any book I can find. So the top and bottom players on this panel remain a mystery to me. Beckett only catalogs two 3-card panels for 1960, but doing extensive internet searches I've seen 3 others. But none with Zim.

These panels are really hard to find, and uncut panels sell for $1000-$5000, depending on players. This is what a complete panel looks like.

Cool Zim. You really have to wonder about some people. Who cuts like that unless someone was cutting it up for destruction and it got saved?

I'm gonna cheat here a little and instead of showing the new pick-up (which I just bought tonight and don't have yet), I will show the rest of the team set that I completed with the new buy. Oddly enough, Don Zimmer was the last Dogder I needed and just never went after one. Odd, I guess, because we actually have a resident Zimmer collector here.

Here is the rest of the set, waiting for their teammate to come home! I only wish that their would have kept teammates paired on the same card...

Couple new pick-ups.

First Maddux certified and it had to be a Dodger for me, although i will always consider him a Brave.

I was lazy and reused the sellers scan of the photos. They are team issued photos, roughy 7x9 or so, all hand signed. All 40s era Dodgers!
