Joe Bauman played for the Roswell Rockets in 1954, which was the year he blasted 72 home runs (which was a record until that Balco juice head changed that) and drove home 224 runs. But that wasn't all. He set two other all-time records in 1954. His 456 total bases in 498 times at bat produced a slugging percentage of .916. He also became the first to hit 50 or more home runs in three successive seasons. And if that cake needed any icing, he batted .400 that summer.
Despite a .337 career batting average and 337 homers in the minors, Bauman never played a game in the major leagues!
