First stop this year was the 2014 Colorado Rockies Fanfest. It was my first fest as they did not hold one in 2013. It was a well done fest with a good selection of players there and numerous sessions and Q&A as well as open access to the players clubhouse.

First workout day for pitchers & catchers

Was my first time at Salt River Fields and was a nice place with good access to
the fields and to the players. Being the home team in AZ it did seem that the
players were generous with their time for autographs.

Was a pretty nice experience and pretty crowded. For a variety of reasons I was not able to pick up any autograph vouchers so I just looked for one off opportunities and had some success.

Best part of the day was a free photo opp with legendary '84 world series Tigers teammates Kirk Gibson and Alan Trammel. As a Dodger fan of course it's all about '88 but that Tigers team was fun to watch too.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch

Day 1 of spring training and the crowds were pretty big but not completely crazy. Fair amount of families along with the expected crowd. Bullpens and PFPs were on the minor league back fields which was a change from what I saw last year. Thought I had a ball with me but forgot it so missed out on Maury Wills as he stopped and signed forever. Biggest mob was for Kershaw and as it turned out due to the mob no one really saw Ryu stopping and signing.

Zack Lee will sign anything.. he almost signed another guy's card in AA last year. Not very talkative though.. How big were the crowds? I am coming out at the end of the month (I hope) just don't want to get nailed with a bunch of dopes causing more issues then actually being polite and asking

The crowds are still fairly big but a bit less than yesterday and seemed to clear out more quickly. Crowds will get bad again once all players report but at the same time once other camps open up some of these folk will migrate to other camps.

By the end of the month with games having started up you will probably not have as many issues with crowds outside the stadiums since lots of folks will be inside but then of course players will be inside too. Just come out and try. Dodgers camp has one of the biggest crowds so you're not going to be able to avoid it either way.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch

Might get one more chance tomorrow but won't be there for long so probably won't get much more. Today was not as crowded as day 1 and those that were there fled en masse once Kershaw finished up for the day. I waited until the very end and was greeted with the chance to catch Alex Guerrero the latest Cuban signee. He does not have cards yet though and I brought an already signed ball instead of a fresh one so missed out.

We are going to def do the Dbacks and Rockies facility My friend is a dback season ticket holder so he knows a lot of the guys. I am hoping to make it out.. I don't know now depending on work (Ice Storm in ATL)

Oakland Athletics at Papago Park Practice Fields

My first time at the A's practice fields and found them to be rather nice with good access to players. A decent sized crowd with lots of die hard A's fans. I won't get a chance to go back this trip but hope that once the A's switch their spring training facility next year that they keep the fan friendly setup.

Seattle Mariners at Peoria Sports Complex

Something of a disappointing day. Missed out on Felix by about 1 minute. Had to wade through a large wave of position players all coming off at once. Another group of position players including Cano, Seager, etc went to another field for running drills and when they were done they were able to go straight to the clubhouse and not pass through any area with the fans.
