Today's photo of the day features Pete Rose playing third base at Wrigley Field during the mid to late '70's. I love this photo because it blurs out the Cubs hitter and focuses on the intensity of Pete Rose, waiting for the ball to be hit to him. It seems Rose played just about every position when he played except for catcher or pitcher.....although he may have played there once in awhile.

I love newswire photos like these used for black and white newspapers. You can see the photo editor has manipulated the photo to add contrast to Rose, lightening the background around Rose. I love these "pre-photoshop" image manipulations.
