Let me get this out of the way:
This hobby needs more kids, and it's awesome that they participate on this board.
That said, is there a way to know if we're dealing with a child or adult when making trades or sales on FCB's transactions board?
A thread was recently made in which an adult member was not paid in a timely matter, nor did he receive any communication from the other member.
It ended up being a 14-year-old boy who did not understand the importance of communication when making a deal. Kind of understandable for a 14-year-old, since they don't have much experience handling online transactions. And he did end up sending payment after a couple weeks.
I have enough apprehension dealing online with many adults, who can be scammers and thieves. But I would definitely want to know if I'm making a big money transaction with a child.
This is certainly not a child-bashing thread. I wish this board and the hobby had much more of them. And they should be able to trade just like the rest of us.
However, I would like to know that if I'm sending a $500 card to someone, it's an adult and not a kid who has no legal responsibility if something goes wrong.
And what are the possible legal ramifications of dealing large amounts of money with underaged children without parents' consent?
On eBay, it says members must be 18 years old and has the following reason:
"When eBay members agree to buy or sell items, they are entering into contracts with each other. In most countries, you must be at least 18 years old to enter into a contract."
