The last two years I thought Archives was a good option for collectors looking for an inexpensive set or cool inserts. I put together 2012 and 2013 and liked both (but 2012 better). I would really like to work on the 2014 set but it's $160 a box at my lcs

I realize they have better autos this year, and that's awesome. But I always viewed it as an insert and set collector driven product. A new college grad like me just can't handle the jump. Am I just a poor cheapskate, or has anyone else felt this also?

Your LCS is high as balls. That's almost $60 more than I paid for my Archives box; still high, but I pulled a ton of numbered parallels and SPs so I feel I got good value.

Get ahold of Chris, Andrew, or one of the other reputable dealers who are on this site and I am sure they can get you a much better deal.

Or just grab what you need as singles. There were three autos I wanted to pull: John Olerud, Sean Casey, and Jeromy Burnitz. Didn't pull any, but I did get a Burnitz on ebay for less than $5.

Yeah, $160 is waaaaay too high.

I don't even think it should be $90-100. I've said alot that Archives should be a retail-only $30/Blaster product with autos in every other blaster.

The autos are a bit better this year, but still not good enough to justify the inflated SRP.

And football was even worse!

Its all about production. Word is they only produced 800 cases compared to 1600 last year.

No that you mention it, I do kind of remember hearing that. That's too bad, it's one of the few low end sets that's actually fun to put together, IMO.

Well I ordered a box from Dave & Adam's this morning for $130 with free shipping. It was kind if a rough week at work so I decided to reward myself for getting through it. I'm hoping it arrives by Saturday.

Cards always makes a rough week at the office just a little bit easier.
