I don't know if this will replace the WBC but the timing is better, being in November after the professional seasons end.
Preliminary rankings (only top 12 participate):
1 USA
2 Japan
3 Cuba
4 Chinese Taipei
5 Dominican Republic
6 Netherlands
7 Canada
8 Korea
9 Puerto Rico
10 Venezuela
11 Italy
12 Mexico
Only a few points separate Mexico from No. 13 Panama, No. 14 Australia and No. 15 Brazil.
