What would your top list look like?

This list is ranked with the weight more heavily focussed on the success of the players career, with a little weight of the value of the card. No Kris Bryant doesn't deserve to be on the list on account he hasn't even reached the Majors yet...

*Not sure if I should have Andrew McCuthen's Aflac auto count or not

1. Pujols
2. Kershaw
3. Buster Posey
4. Trout
6. Joe Mauer
7. Justin Verlander
8. Felix Hernandez
9. Ryan Braun
10. Tim Lincecum
11. David Price
12. David Wright
13. Hanley
14. Prince Fielder
15. Jose Bautista
16. Jon Lester
17. Matt Kemp
18. Justin Upton
19. Jacoby Ellsbury
20. Madison Bumgarner
21. Alex Gordon
22. Stanton
22. Jason Heyward
23. Jared Weaver
24. Brian McCann
25. Stephen Strasburg
26. Yu Darvish
27. Hunter Pence
28. Bryce Haprer
29. Jose Abreu (until he is awarded ROY)
30. Billy Butler
31. Manny Machado
32. Ryan Zimmerman
33. Jordan Zimmerman
34. Allen Craig
35. Freddie Freeman
36. Chris Sale
37. Paul Goldschmidt
38. Aroldis Chapman
39. Jose Fernandez
40. Ben Revere
41. Sonny Gray
42. Josh Donaldson
43. Gio Gonzalez
44. Matt Garza
45. Mat Latos
46. Kevin Youkilis
47. Anthony Rizzo
48. Starlin Castro

Need to fix the order, but just brainstorming a rough top 50

May come back and edit but for starters (without any lists in front of me of players who have BC autos so I may miss people)

Based on a combination of past performance and the level of play the player has reached (so Trout is #2 because his 3 seasons put him on an "all-time great" trajectory even though he does not have the career yet that guys like Mauer do). Stanton was the one I was least sure on a placement for. He could easily be higher, but injuries and a shorter track record have him where he is for me.

1. Albert Pujols (1st ballot HOF and one of the best hitters of all-time)
2. Mike Trout (only 3 years in Majors, but to this point putting up unheard of numbers)
3. Clayton Kershaw (All-time great numbers over his first few seasons)
4. Buster Posey (ROY and MVP winner, big part of 2 WS teams.)
5. Joe Mauer (Likely HOF. MVP and 3 batting titles as a catcher)
6. David Wright (7 time AS)
7. Felix Hernandez (Cy Young winner and could win another this year)
8. Justin Verlander (Cy Young and MVP winner)
9. Giancarlo Stanton (one of the youngest ever to reach 150 homers)
10. Hanley Ramirez (3 time AS, one of the best power/speed SS's of the last decade)
11. Brian McCann (7-time AS)

Off the top without looking...

Albert Pujols
David Wright
Hanley Ramirez
Brian McCann
Felix Hernandez
Homer Bailey
Justin Verlander
Jared Weaver
Ryan Braun
Justin Upton
Alex Gordon
Clayton Kershaw
Evan Longoria
Tim Lincecum
Buster Posey
Giancarlo Stanton
Mike Trout
Stephen Strasburg
Bryce Harper

I'm tired of thinking and am sure I'm missing some. If we were to do a true top 50 list I'm guessing some pretty poor names would be on that list.

Makes ya wonder why people go apenuts buying Bowman every year for the autos. In the 15-ish years of those products there are way more scrubs than even "common stars" as Beckett used to call them.

I'm interested why no one put David Price up there. Even his cards on eBay are lower than I would expect. Also would like to think Jon Lester, Madison Bumgarner and Prince Fielder would make some people's lists

Right now or all time? Delmon Young should be on there. True he never lived up to the hype, but that's the hype's fault. A decade ago, he was like fried gold. Dellin Betances, Joba Chamberlin, Brad Cresse. Maybe put Toe Nash on there. Or not.

Ron Davenport deserves an honorary mention.

They're new but maybe Oscar Taveras and Yasiel Puig. And he's down now, but I still believe in Matt Moore.

This brings up the idea of a similar list I'd LOVE to see: Top 50 list by highest recorded sale for a base auto. Would be interesting to see those names, maybe they wouldn't be too different, I don't know but one things for sure; there's more than a handful of solid major league players whose chrome auto RCs can be had for a song

I took a quick look at ebay to remind myself who all is in this group. So many players I totally forgot about selling for pennies on the dollar to what they were when they came out. For a while now I've been thinking of building the 2001 BC Auto set, minus the Pujols. I think it could be done for a couple hundred bucks.

Also forgot Starlin Castro. I think he's good.

I was out of the hobby for a while, so the newer guys I probably left off the list. Additionally, I am ranking the cards more based on the players success vs the hype or previous sales of a card. There is no way I am putting Joba Chamberlain on the list of best bowman chrome autograph cards
