Time to hear how "Foltynewicz" sounds in a Georgian accent. :)

Wow.

8 good/"live" arms! looks like part of a master plan!

I think the Astros did fine here. Gattis is a legit, right handed power bat entering his prime in a park tailor-made for right handed power hitters. He makes next to nothing and although he will be arbitration eligible in 2016, he isn't a free agent until 2019, so you get him for his entire prime. If he crushes the ball and becomes a 30+ home run guy, you don't mind paying the arbitration award. If he maintains his current production, he is still valuable and will be affordable. Of course, the Braves got some solid arms in the deal, but you've got to give up something of quality to get a quality player with a cheap contract.

Looks like the deal isn't final

By Jeff Todd [January 14, 2015 at 1:43pm CST]
3:38pm: If a snag occurs, the Rangers are next in line to strike a deal for Gattis, Bowman tweets.

2:03pm: The deal is not yet complete, caution Sherman (via Twitter) and MLB.com’s Mark Bowman (via Twitter), with the former saying the terms are settled upon pending physical and the latter warning there is still a chance that Gattis could be moved to another club.

Source: Astros-Braves Gattis deal, which is not completed, would include player/players not known at this point. We don’t have full picture.

I should hope more is going to Houston. As it stands now, it would be a bad move on Houston's part. A power hitter that is not established with little positional flexibility, no speed, low average and low OBP.....pass. Houston is not in a position to give up any of their arms.

I want to give this trade more weight because Hoyt played college ball at Centenary, where my father went, but I am afraid this is still a puzzling lose for the Astros.

Wow. Looks like Atlanta is tanking 2015. At least on the offense side. Freddie Freeman may have to sue for support.
