Trevor Story will undergo season-ending surgery to repair the torn UCL in his left thumb.
So his brilliant 2016 rookie campaign ends with 27 home runs, 72 RBI, and a .909 OPS in 97 games. Christian Adames is likely to get the bulk of starts at shortstop for Colorado down the stretch. This injury to Story positions Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager as the sudden favorite for National League Rookie of the Year honors, if you're into that sort of thing.
