When Topps revealed its plans for The Mint, it was dubbed as a release that takes its baseball cards to high-end levels not seen before and one that “will raise the bar for premium card collecting.”

Now that the final 2016 Topps The Mint checklist is here, we’ll know how high.

Each five-card box of what is the priciest baseball brand in Topps history*will include nothing but hits.*Here’s the final checklist as released by Topps on Friday in advance of its release next week.

Among the surprises? Vin Scully and “Rocky Balboa” autographs along with the previously teased “Nuke” LaLoosh auto that lists him with the Atlanta Braves. (Need more detail? See our First Buzz preview from March right here.)

Er. Um. Ah. Well.

But why did they stop at $900 a pack? Why not just go ahead and pole vault over the $1K per pack barrier. Well for my own part, I can't be bothered with Topps Dynasty, so it's safe to say Topps Mint is also right out.

Galarraga and Vizquel, the new high end guys? MONEY GRAB!!

Glad they didn't slip in a Garvey and went with the old stand-by, Sandy Koufax. His autos should be about $10 now at the rate they are inserted into products these days...

Dynasty isn't worth the money and neither will this be worth the money. High end just means artificially inflated. Very disappointed to see Dawson in this.

Imagine spending $900 and your "hits" are A.J. *******, Starling Marte, Andrew Miller, J.D. Martinez and James Shields.
But this hobby is full of rich idiots, so it will probably sell out.

The few HOF autos in it are guys who Topps recently had sign a bajillion things, so even that isn't all that impressive. I can't see any combination of players and hits that would make half your money back.

At $900/pack, you should be guaranteed a knob/button/nameplate/full-letter per pack. At that point, maybe you'd see some value.

Plus, there are what, 4-5 guys who have been traded and are in the wrong uniform? Would it kill Topps to consider the trade deadline ever?

Imagine being pissed about already pulling a Shields or Miller auto, and then he's not even in the right uniform...

I am glad I was not the only one who looked at this product and wondered how pissed off I would be when I opened the box......any box. There is not one item in there that would make me happy I spent that kind of money.

You have to wonder how long they will keep trying stuff like this before the wax gamblers(cause that's the only people I can see ripping this) call it quits when they open several boxes and get 10% on their return? I'm thinking that's starting to be the norm. And the kind of people opening this stuff have to be getting tired of it. It's only a gamble if you have a chance to actually win sometimes. Otherwise it's really just intentionally losing money.

Too many players I'd hate to pull in a $900 pack. I've never purchased Dynasty before and I certainly won't be buying this. For a product that charges $180 per card I'd expect every single card to be one of the following - auto relic featuring a patch/multi-auto cards/1-of-1 memorabilia featuring letter patches, gloves, etc./non memorabilia autos #d to 5 or less.

And certainly no cards of Andrew Miller or D.J. LeMahieu.

agreed. I would be looking for cuts of Clemente and Cobb as well as others for these prices.

Case breakers will be featuring this crap all over the internet upon it's arrival. They'll have spots for 40 to 50 buy in and the sheep will flock in droves to whom ever has a breakers site, on eBay, Facebook, Twitter, and what ever other media they're on........Seems like a way of topps to rid themselves of any left over inventory of sticker auto they have, even if most of them or low end in this hobby.
