I remember back in 1999 when Beckett released its first rookie card rolodex, I was amazed that Pat Burrell had so many more rookie cards than everyone else. I thought it would be cool to try to get a copy of every one of them (including parallels), but since he was the most expensive guy in that rookie class I never seriously tried. I have quite a few Burrells, but nowhere near all of them. Instead, many years later I tried the same concept for Pedro Alvarez who hasn’t been nearly as popular (or expensive) as Burrell was.
As mentioned yesterday here , I picked up the last card I wanted in order to finish this. He was one of the guys included in the Razor _____ (insert your own word here) in 2008, and was a ML rookie in 2010. He wasn’t included in licensed products until the next year (2011), however. Because he already used up his rookie eligibility, his 2011 cards didn’t have the RC logo.
Anyway…he had 103 different rookie cards in 2011 (not counting printing plates). 14 of them were 1/1s. I have 91 of the 103 (missing 12 of the 1/1s) and consider this collection finished.
For your viewing interest, here they are by brand (alphabetically) with print runs and some extra stuff at the end. Enjoy!
…and lastly, here’s the disappointing part (I had to accept replacements for these four cards several years ago)
Thanks for taking a look, and good luck with your own collections!
