Spike TV today confirmed open tryout dates for the upcoming ninth season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” which begins filming in January 2009.

“The Ultimate Fighter: U.S. vs. U.K.,” which will feature middleweight and welterweight fighters, will look to pull talent from an Oct. 20 tryout in London, England, and an Oct. 27 date in Rosemont, Ill., near Chicago.

Like the latest two seasons of the show, 32 fighters will be selected for the “U.S. vs. U.K.” edition, and all fighters must first win an elimination-bout to make it onto the official cast.

The Oct. 20 tryout takes place at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London, England. Fighter registration begins at 9 a.m. GMT, and the tryouts begin at 10 a.m.

The Oct. 27 tryout is set for the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Ill. Registrations begins at 9 a.m. CT, and the trouts kick off an hour later.

No coaches have been announced for the show, which will again be hosted by UFC President Dana White. The show is expected to debut in April 2009.

“TUF,” which debuted in early 2005, kicked off its eighth season last month. The groundbreaking reality series, which was the catalyst for MMA’s recent popularity explosion, has launched the UFC careers of more than 100 fighters, and even resulted in the crowning of two UFC champions.
