Last night in San Jose someone opened a man hole cover and climbed down it and cut three fiber optic cables knocking out land lines, cell phones, and Internet from South San Jose all the way to Santa Cruz.

This place is a mess and I'm only online because we have satellite Internet here at work. Banks are closed, no ATMs, no phones so no 911 in case of emergencies. Someone just set a good example for terrorists.

At least this should get some second level of security for the actual cables or a back up plan for if this happens again.

It could have very well been terrorists.Maybe just seeing what they could accomplish?Who knows.Whats really dumb is whenever anything like this happens or whenever the local media seem to find a weak spot in certain things they blab it all over the news like "Look...terrorists could possibly exploit this weak spot" and its just dumb.STFU about that stuff.Channel 13 here in Houston is the worst. What are they doing?Trying to invite them to wreak havoc?

... really though, it is kind of scary that it is so easy for someone to go in and create such a large communications disruption by clipping three cables. I never realized that my land line and my cell phone were dependent on the same infrastructure.
