Pretty good list BUTTTTTT.... Villalona is missing from the hot list.

He is about 40 spots back of Cowgill for the week...in fact Cody Johnson is in front of him.

My hot list is based off of pure stats for the week so no bias in my formula

What kind of formula do you use? I know it's only been 2 games but he's hitting like .581 and slugging 1.500 or so. I only have one of his autos so Im not biased towards him, he is in a favorable hitters league (are those kinds of things taken into account?).

No leagues are taken to account. However I may have a small bug in my script

He should have 10 pts not 7.

Here is the scoring:
Hitters: +1 point for each base
+1 point for run
+1 point stolen base
+1 point run batted in
+1 walk
-1 strikeout
Pitcher: +.5 inning pitched
+1 strikeout
-1 walk
-1 earned run
-1 hit

I think that is what I settled on...i will have to go back and look

Great idea. I would adjust your formula a tad. I would go -.5 for a hit for pitchers and make walks +.5 for hitters.

I'll give it a shot...I have been trying to "even" out the playing field for pitchers and hitters

I will have to fix the problem with some of the hitters not scoring enough.

Again looking Beckham he should have scored higher...something is wrong with the scoring. I will look at it tonight

Get use to seeing that name on hot list this year. I watched him play for Barnstormers last year and he's got big time power. He use to be pretty highly touted prospect for the Mets. He's 6'5 220 pounds and left handed and playing in Single A Cal League. He will put up some nasty stats in that hitters paradise.

A little update from those following along...

I looked at the scoring for hitters and it is as follows
+1 Ru
+1 Rbi
+1 SB
+1 per base -- ex. +4 Hr
+1 BB

-1 K
-Total ABs/ 2

I forgot I added this to dampen the scores of the hitters to even things out with the pitchers

I am going to keep the scoring consistent for this week and try Coastal suggestion for next week.

Keep the ideas coming. Looking to help the prospect community be more efficient

For pitching, I don't think it should be -1 for a hit and -1 for a walk with just -1 for an earned run. I think it should be like -.5 for a hit and -.5 for a walk. Also, there's not enough positives for pitchers. . .

My idea with pitchers was that a hit and a walk should be equal. Just like a hitter a walk and a single are treated equal. I am a big believer in OBP.

As far as ER vs H, giving up runs is sometimes more luck than being good. Your WHIP is a better indication of success than ERA. With that said certain pitchers have an ability to get out of jams. So that is why I scored hits walks and earned runs the same

Just my thoughts. If the group feels it should be different than so be it

Do you have a method for downloading stats to a spreadsheet or something? I'm hoping for your sake you don't have to manually put in all that information.

Yep manual. Takes me about 5 hours every night

Just kidding. I have 7 scripts that I run and it takes about 20 minutes

How do you set those up? I've been using several spreadsheets to track players, but I'm not so good with IT stuff. Is there a site where I could get basic instructions from?
